What is Steam Mate and how does Steam Mate work?

Steam Mate is a solution designed for efficient maintenance of boiler water systems. Steam Mate contains an oxygen scavenger that chemically reacts with the oxygen in the water to prevent corrosion and mineral deposits in the boiler water systems.

Steam Mate transforms calcified rock sludge into a soft sludge that can be easily removed during blowdown periods. The soft sludge that is produced by using Steam Mate is much more easily removed than the rock sludge that calcifies in poorly maintained boilers. Steam Mate is also efficient at maintaining an ideal alkaline level which balances the acids formed by carbon dioxide in the boiler water. This balance is mandatory for a properly maintained system.

Steam Mate contains oxygen scavengers, peptizing agents, scale preventatives, pH controllers, rust and corrosion inhibitors, water softeners, detergents and sequestering flocculant agents.

Steam Mate is water soluble, has only a mild odor, and is a gold-clear liquid. 

The dosage of Steam Mate depends on the percent of condensate returned, makeup water characteristics and initial cleanliness of heat transfer surfaces. The Steam Mate treatment program must be accompanied by a program of regular blowdown to remove sludge and suspended solids from the boiler.
